Menacing bass and breaks that feel like a cyborg invasion. Dreamy synth vocals that bring you back to peace. Discovered these songs ripping cigs at 4am in the dark at Blind Barber. Both songs centered around a forlorn lovers' desperation.
The Adventures of Tintin - Tintin in Tibet
This is my favorite Tintin volume. This is why: This story was written while the author, Hergé, entered a fucked up period in his life marked by a mental breakdown, Hergé realized his feelings for his wife, Germaine, had waned and was drawn to Fanny Vlaminck, a younger ingeniue that worked at his studios. Their courtship lifted his spirits, but Germaine’s interference and reluctance to leave the marriage without a fight caused serious drama. Hergé tried to two time both relationships foregoing divorce because of his Catholic upbringing; the guilt weighed heavily on him, he went cuckoo and started obsessing over snow, mountains and the void of color and character in white; he insisted on a solo voyage of redemption in writing this volume and his personal narrative can be read between the lines. The conflict is between man and nature, no real antagonist save for one’s own psyche, willpower, ego, etc … This is a super deep adventure to be read.
Blind Barber AHA Scrub
I made this! People LOVE it. If you come by the shop you can use it for free. The fragrance I made for this scrub was inspired by the ambient air in Tokyo outside of a 24-hour laundromat neighboring a small cigar bar with terrible ventilation.
Uni-Ball One P
Incredible machine operating at an insane level.
The ink formulation was designed to rest on the surface of the page rather than soak in. The One P set the 2023 world record as the blackest gel ink ball pen on the market.
If you are still reading this here is more on this pen lol. Measuring 11.7cm in length and boasting a comfortably small diameter of around 14mm, this pen stands out to me for its compact build unlike the wider grips of many gel pens that often give me hand cramps; The One P is polite, unassuming … perfect.
Stoff Nagel Modular Candleholder
After the World War II bombings razed the city of Cologne, a duo of brothers scavenged and collected American cartridge cases. Their father, a blacksmith, transformed these into ashtrays, vases, and candle holders, providing a new income for the family and ultimately an industrious new trade helping their village to rebuild after the war. The original specs are all gone, but these are still manufactured today.
